There is no one set price for braces for everyone. If there was, the orthodontists could advertise their prices. Cost is determined by the length of the treatment and how many different appliances are needed. Therefore, your price may be different from the daughter or son of your friend or neighbor.
We accept most insurance providers, and we are in-network with many insurance companies such as DenteMax, Cigna, Guardian, Delta Dental, HealthSCOPE, and Medical Mutual. When you stay in-network, the insurance coverage is usually greater. Also, please remember the insurance company does a background check (personal and professional) before letting an orthodontist join.
Yes. We file the insurance for you. It can be used to pay ½ of the down payment and ½ of the monthly payments, therefore lowering your out-of-pocket expense.

We offer an in-house payment plan that requires a small down payment and monthly payments (usually 24 months). There are no interest or finance charges. If you have insurance, the insurance company usually pays ½ of the down payment and ½ of the monthly payments, making your out-of-pocket expenses even less.
No. The finance company charges you interest. They may charge you 14.9% APR (or higher). Doing the math, this could potentially add at least $1700 to the cost of your braces. We do not charge interest on our in house payment plans, saving you on interest.
If another orthodontic practice makes you sign a loan at your first visit from a finance company, please take into consideration that the interest is most likely not included in that price, so what may seem to be a more economical choice may cost you more in the long run.
We do not pressure you into signing any contracts during your first visit.
Most appointments are very short (10-15 minutes) and are every 5-8 weeks. These can often be scheduled after school, based on first come, first serve. We are also open on many holidays that children have off from school (Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, etc.).
The doctor personally performs all services. That means she performs the new patient exam and consultation. She puts the braces on, makes all of the adjustments, and takes them off when the treatment is complete. She works on one patient at a time, and doesn’t believe in an assembly line practice, where you are an account number shuffled in and out of the office. We believe that each patient deserves personal, professional service.
Call the office. I only have one office, so you do not need to drive to a different location to find me. If I am not at work, the answering machine has a message with my personal phone number on it.
Probably not. Early treatment (prior to all adult teeth erupting) is not always beneficial or necessary for all children. Please be wary of orthodontic or dental practices that rush you into starting early treatment during your first visit.
No. Go to the office that you are most comfortable with. Braces can take 2 years, and retainers are checked for an additional 2 years, making treatment a long term commitment. We just do orthodontics at this office. Dr. McCartney is a specialist in orthodontics and graduated from a 3-year residency program to become a specialist in orthodontics after attending dental school for 4 years. Please follow your insurance guidelines, because coverage is better if you stay in-network.

Both of my sons have had braces. My older son’s (not a patient of Dr. McCartney) experience was a nightmare. We went to an orthodontist that has an office on every corner but we could never get after school appointments. At his appointments, the assistants did most of the work and if he had an emergency it was dealt with at the next scheduled appointment. My son (not a patient of Dr. McCartney) had his braces on for almost 4 years. My younger son has gone to Dr. McCartney and has received very personal attention in a relaxing atmosphere. We speak to Dr. McCartney directly and her schedule is much more flexible for scheduling appointments and dealing with emergencies. The work she has done has been excellent and is state of the art. Her fun and quirky sense of humor makes visits enjoyable and my son leaves each visit with a smile. But even more important, he will have a beautiful one for the rest of his life.
